The Primitive Way starts in Oviedo and is considered the oldest of all the routes to Santiago.
It begins at the gates of the Cathedral of Oviedo, a Gothic temple that encompasses several architectural styles, where, in addition to its unique tower, stands out the Holy Chamber, a Pre-Romanesque construction that served as the palace chapel of Alfonso II.
Pilgrims leave the Cathedral through the side arch of the Portico.
